Artist’s Thoughts:  I like to create portraits of dogs that are simple, yet evocative. I work hard to portray a realistic and classic quality to each dog, while also giving room for the personality of the pup to shine through. Ideally, my paintings portray a lifelike quality of the dog. My entry is a collage of four paintings I did, presented as one image for the poster competition. In thinking of this application process, I felt that being able to depict more than one purebred breed was important. The purebred dogs depicted from top to bottom, left to right are Bassett Hound, French Bulldog, Welsh Springer Spaniel, and Boston Terrier.
