Oasis’ “Supersonic” – About a Dog?

You think you know a song.  Can you guess what Oasis’ hit, “Supersonic” was about after watching this video?

To complicate things, you should know that while this was Oasis’s lowest-peaking single, it eventually got enough sales to outsell their 2002 number one song, “The Hindu Times,” and went on to become Oasis’ 13th biggest selling single ever in the UK.  Over ten years after its release, critics and fans continued to hold the track in high regard. In 2005, it placed No. 20 on Q magazine’s list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks. Two years later, it ranked No. 25 on NME‘s 50 Greatest Indie Anthems Ever.

So, give up?  The song was about “Elsa,” a 126 pound Rottweiler with flatulance. She belonged to song engineer, Dave Scott, and was in the studio on the day the song was written (which accounts for the line she’s into Alka Seltzer”). She spent most of her days under Scott’s mixing-desk constantly farting.

If you loved the song before, do you love even more now?
