Once Separated by Coat

The people who make a study of “dog stuff” (affectionately known in our house as “geeks,” but more properly called “cynologists”) believe that early Affenpinschers may have had had longer muzzles than they have now. Why? Because at one time, early Affens and smooth coated Miniature Pinschers were thought to be two varieties of the same breed. Authors we admire, Bonnie Wilcox, DVM and Chris Walkowicz, have also written that they were even born in the same litter.
