Artist’s Thoughts: I wanted to emphasize the diversity and broad heritage of our purebred dogs; therefore, I have one representative from each of the nine AKC groups for each continent on the globe. The breeds represented in the portrait also convey the vast diversity of the breeds — from the Peruvian Hairless, to the Silky and even the significant size differential between the Newfoundland and the Chihuahua. Then, there are the subtle differences (i.e. the Rhodesian Ridgeback). All of the breeds are beautiful and distinct – but as diverse in culture and personality as their human companions.
