As we inch closer to May 1 – National Purebred Dog Day (not just a name, but an actual day recognized by Colorado in 2015, and last week, by the State of Georgia), we like to remind everyone of just what is it we’re celebrating. Among the most important attributes of purebred dogs is their predictability, and the video below of English Setter puppies shared by Gundog Development illustrates what we mean.
From GD’s page: “Puppies are introduced to birds a at approximately eight weeks, and then taken for daily bird walks until picked up by their new owners. While the can be picked up as early as 10 weeks, I find the extra time on birds and additional time in litter goes a long way in producing a well rounded puppy.”
Not surprisingly, these youngsters are “setting” at what we’re guessing is about ten weeks of age, and having a ball doing it. Note the pups honoring point!
