In 2014 (and to the sounds of bagpipes), Princess Anne unveiled a life-size bronze statue in honor of the Isle of Skye’s famous dog breed, the Skye Terrier.
The Skye Terrier Club (Great Britain) raised the funds to commemorate the breed with sculpture rendering of both the prick-ear and drop-ear varieties. Over 47 dogs and their owners attended the ceremony held on the grounds of Armadale Castle. The statue named, “The Homecoming,” was a joint project by the Skye Terrier Club and Clan Donald Skye which commissioned Wiltshire based artist, Georgie Welch, to create the piece ultimately cast by Pangolin Editions.
