Artist’s Thoughts: I adore my retired Greyhound racer. He broke his leg while running professionally, and he was in pain, confused, and angry when he first arrived home. Now he knows he is adored and races for the pure joy of it! Form follows function – watching him run is like poetry in motion. I chose my materials to capture his electric and elegant exuberance – the energy of drawing and the flow of paint. I contrasted dark colors, representing his broken leg and unfinished race, with light, representing his healing and the fact that now he races through fields, purely for joy. (And also representing my joy in watching him run.)
