Artist’s Thoughts:  These are beloved family pets. The Great Dane and German Shepherd, Dante and Gunner, enjoy watching the dogs who pass the house. Their aim is to play, rather than protect. They are will known in the neighborhood, so children, other dogs, as well as their human counterparts all stop to visit. They are wonderful examples of their breeds. Gunner, the Shepherd has learned to trigger a treat button. Though Dante, the Dane has not mastered that skill, he has learned to show up for the treat. Pastel is my preferred medium, and I have enjoyed creating many images of the dogs.

  1. This is Hera, a champion wire coated Ibizan hound, in oils on canvas. Was a commission done as a gift.
