Twenty-two-year old Igor Verniy is an engineer in the field of metal, and a specialist in the evolution of stars and astrophysics, and yet he writes of himself, “At heart I’m an artist and I see the beauty of this world in bright colors, but I’m also a mechanic…and these two qualities help me to create.”
Though his creations are made auto parts, old watches elements, silverware, cigarette lighters, home appliances, and electronics, Verniy’s creations have an “old world” feel to them, pieces that are, he says, inspired by the “outside world, in particular biology and the question of the origin of life and all natural science, and dreams about the future of human civilization.” Lofty ideas made of “stuff” people bring to his workshop, or that he acquires from flea markets.
The creations are described as articulated “steampunk animal sculptures,” and though Veryiy has but one dog sculpture (a Beagle, we think), his other masterpieces must be seen, as well, which you can do here, along with stories behind some of the pieces. His Etsy page is quite limited, but you can follow Veryiy on his Facebook page.
