When the Soviet Union invaded Hungary, the breed that had been nicknamed, the “Gift of Kings” was nearly decimated. Some upper class families were able to escape the country with their dogs, but the majority of Vizslak were killed by the invaders, or by their own owners who couldn’t feed them. It’s estimated that a staggering 80 to 90 percent of the breed was killed at this time. We make no apologies on this page for urging each of us to preserve and protect our breeds.
