The Masseter Muscle

The Masseter muscle. Do you know where it is?

The Masseter is a cheek muscle that dogs use to raise and lower their jaw for eating, biting and holding prey. Dogs that kill their prey by snapping (think snapping turtle), and dogs that have a soft mouth like certain retrievers have a poorly developed Masseter muscle, but breeds that grab and hold on, like the Bulldog, have well developed (or cheeky) Masseters.
