Sometimes, the purpose bred dog is bred to be big for a reason, and in this case, it’s been a Godsend. Tissue alert (in a good way).

George was trained by Service Dog Project in Ipswich, MA, a group that has donated over 100 Great Danes as service dogs to individuals who have severe balance and mobility limitations. Why Great Danes? As they write on their web site, “The balance support dog should be at least 45% of the person’s height and 65% of the person’s weight. A 6 foot tall man needs a 30” dog. This puts stability at the person’s fingertips.”
As far as we know, the story was first reported by ABC News.
