The things we come across for one breed while researching for another.
At one time, Pomeranians were bigger. A lot bigger. They could weigh, on average, 35 pounds and were all white, but in the 19th century, they were bred down to become companion animals, something that Queen Victorian probably had a hand in. Before that, however, dwarf-sized Pomeranians in the 18th century could weigh 10-12 pounds and were called “Sport Poms.” We’d love to hear from Pomeranian experts about this!
