Artist’s Thoughts: My focus was to represent as many Vanishing Breeds as I could on a 18×24 Canvas. As a dog portrait artist I love painting breeds that I have not painted before. I chose these 8 as they represent several AKC groups. I learned so much about each pup as I painted them. It was also very important to create a piece of art that was detailed enough to represent the dog. I believe I accomplished that. It was an honor to paint them.

  1. A beautiful piece – and yet so sad to see some of my favorite breeds on the “vanishing breeds” list. I grew up with an Irish Wolfhound, Fergus; have loved Sussex Spaniels since I first saw them; have always thought that Gordon Setters are really the royalty of the Setters; and waited impatiently two years to see the Otterhounds at their recent National Specialty – what a treat! A lovely and important set of portraits….
