Artist’s Thoughts: “I was inspired by the two dogs with their owners, the people tired and resting on a hot summer day while the dogs were obviously still full of energy, animated, and so interested in their surroundings. The symmetrical balance of the pair of people and the pair of dogs made a visually satisfying unit. With the story being told in the shaded setting I was interested in using layers of paint and separate brushstrokes of unexpected color in the dogs’ coats for interest and detail.”
