1943 was a big year for the Toy Poodle. Up until that year, the AKC registered them as a separate breed, but in 1943, the toy was recognized as a variety of the Poodle breed which until then, had consisted only of the two varieties, the Miniature and the Standard. Not until 1943 were colors other than white introduced into the Toy Poodle breed, as well. The color white certainly dominated Toy Poodles breed before this time, but they weren’t exclusively white. We always defer to breed experts here and welcome the input of Toy Poodle owners.
