We Say Goodbye to Oddball

We’re sorry to report that “Oddball,” the Maremma who protected penguins and inspired her own film, died last week at the age of 15. As part of a pioneering project developed by Allan ‘Swampy’ Marsh in 2006, it was Oddball’s job to protect the Fairy Penguin population of Middle Island in Australia’s south-west Victoria from local foxes and other predators. For a large breed, fifteen is a respectable age of passing, but we will go to our graves maintaining that dogs don’t live long enough. Period.  Rest in Peace, Oddball. For more on her story, read here.
