“What Kind of Dog Was That?”

We delight in commercials that feature one of the world’s purebred dogs, and never more than when it’s an uncommon breed that might inspire viewers to ask, “What kind of dog was that?”

In case you, too, are asking, “What kind of dog is that?” the answer is that “Purdey is a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. She’s also a show dog who has competed and won classes at Crufts. Her resume includes having been a background extra in the “Show Dogs” movie, as well as having been featured in a short film made for festival competition. Purdey is well accustomed to being in front of the camera, and her resume contains numerous tricks that include a paw wave, walking backwards, barking on cue, bowing, spinning, and putting her head down on command.

Kudos to Hertz!

    • It’s actually a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever!

  1. Unless that breed comes in blue Merle coats with docked tail, it’s an Aussie. Must have a different comercial in mind
