The Great Pyrenees has a magnificent tail – well plumed, and carried low when “chilling,” with its tip forming a hook. When the dog is alert and aroused, however, that tail gravitates towards the dog’s back forming a strong circle with only the tip touching the loins, the “shepherd’s crook” at the end of the tail cab accentuating the plume. This “making of the wheel ” is called “arroundera” by people of the Pyrenees.
