The Scottish landscape artist, Horatio McCulloch (1805-1867) had several Skye Terriers,
and after his death in 1856 he was laid to rest in Warriston Cemetery in Edinburgh, a Celtic Cross erected in his memory. At the base is a bas-relief of a palette, brushes and laurel wreath, and on the other side, a Skye Terrier faithfully watches over his master.
