Kingsbury Harriers’ “Hare Spray” Photo Challenge

What can any of us do to help save an ancient dog breed from vanishing in our lifetime?

Knowledge is a good start. Did you know that there are more giant Panda Bears in the world than Harriers?

Did you know that the first Harrier packs appeared in England around the 13th century, and that they were in America since Colonial times?

Did you know that General George S. Patton rode to hounds and was Master of a Harrier pack on the East Coast long before he was a general? The Cobbler Harriers was his pack; it disbanded in the mid 20th century;

This smart looking breed that is smaller than the English Foxhound makes a wonderful companion for the right family. We hope that people considering their next dog help preserve this ancient breed for future generations by adding one to the family.

There is particular pleasure in helping a rare breed get more notice, and so we are delighted that Kingsbury Harriers is sponsoring a really fun challenge this year, the “Hare Spray” Photo Challenge (hare being a play on hair/hare).

The challenge:
Hair: Wet. Dry. Brushed. Split. There are many ways to groom our breeds.
Hare: A rabbity mammal belonging to the Lepus genus, and the object of a Harrier’s prodigious nose for centuries.
How you choose to interpret this challenge is what may make your entry the winner. Make our judges “guffaw.”

The prize: $100 gift certificate from the Red Barn Guy, purveyor of premium natural dog food, treats, and chews.  Note: Your dog will never forgive you if you don’t enter this challenge.

The Sponsor: Kingsbury Harriers
