By our reckoning, there are easily some 30 different ear types to be found in purebred dogs, and the “hooded ear” is just one of them. What makes these ears different from standard prick ears is that they are medium sized and curve inwards on both sides giving the ear an impression of a cowl or hood. The beautiful Basenji offers a marvelous example of hooded ears.
