The Beaded Dog

Bead embroidery dates back several thousand years and is often found on ceremonial robes, chest plates, jewelry and head pieces found in archeological sites throughout Europe. In fact, archeologists studying African cultures have unearthed shells used as beads dating back 72,000 years ago where they were used as ornamentation on clothing and accessories. Happily, it’s an art form that has not died, and even more to our liking is how it’s been used to feature purebred dogs. We came across the work of several “beaders” whose work we’re sharing here. Some accept commissions, and many have shops.
