Dark Symphony’s Borzoi

“The Borzoi locked on to the muzzle of the cat, slashed and crunched and let go, springing back. The jaguar retreated with a hideous screech of pain. The dog tracked the cat across to the far window. Outside, on the balcony, the jaguar leapt to the roof, scrambled for purchase, and jumped up to the battlements, running across the narrow ledge to reach the tower. Celt lost sight of the cat. The Borzoi tracked back and forth between the windows several times…”

This is an excerpt from the book, Dark Symphony by Christine Feehan Page in which a Borzoi named “Celt” has a starring role (as does “Byron,” a vampire hunter, giving you a hint about the book’s paranormal-romance genre). Happily, the author did her research when it came to the dog; in the section of “notes and acknowledgements,” she gives special thanks to a Borzoi Club of America member and Borzoi owner.

If you’ve read the books, can you recommend them?

  1. I highly recommend books written by Christine Feehan. Her paranormal-romance novels are wonderfully written. She researches for each story. The story, Dark Symphony, has the Borzoi described well. One can get the feel of how noble and loyal these dogs can be.

  2. The Borzoi – a sighthound as a seeing eye dog and protector? NOT LIKELY! Wrong breed to use.

    • We’ll have to read the book to weigh in, Kristen. Sigh. So many books, so little time!

  3. EVERYONE needs to read the Carpathian Dark Series by Christine Feehan. You will become immersed in their lives and fall in love….with not only the people…but the lands in which they live. My favorite series of all time!

    • A ringing endorsement, Diana! Now we’ll have to read them!

  4. I honestly can’t recommend them enough! She has several different paranormal romance series and I love all of them. I would start with Dark Prince, the first book in the Dark Carpathian series, but they can all be read as stand alone books as well.

    • Thanks, Tamsen, it’s always helpful to have the recommendations of people who’ve actually read the book!
