Diana’s Go-To Dog

Unbelievably, it’s already time for a new hint about next week’s Purebred of Interest! This breed appears in all colors or combination of colors, but its predominant ear color should match its primary body color. It’s NOT the Greyhound in this image, a breed that also comes in many colors.

We make a momentary detour to tell you about Diana, Minerva and Vesta, three chicks who swore never to marry.

They were goddesses of the Dii Consentes, or, in Roman mythology, the cool goddesses, but it was Diana who got all the attention. Why? Let’s review: Minerva was the goddess of art and crafts, or basically, the goddess of lanyards, yarn pom poms and sponge painting. Vesta? She was Jupiter’s sister, so yeah, you can bet she sat at the cool goddess’ table, but still, she was goddess of hearth and the hearth fire, or, s’mores. But Diana! Diana was the goddess of the hunt and moon and birthing. She did arrows and skinny dipping under the moon and giving new life. She had the power to talk to and control animals, and, she usually did it nekkid.

Depictions of Diana show her accompanied by deer, but more often than not, she’s shown with hounds, and specifically, Greyhounds, the perfect breed for a cool lady.
