Painting Details: I wanted to capture the intelligence and beauty of a Doberman. I thought they would be interesting to draw given their sleek ruggedness. 

Artist’s thoughts: I love dogs and am particularly admiring of large breeds, such as Great Dane, Bernese Mountain Dog, Doberman Pinscher, Borzois, and setters. When I pass by dogs like these, I stop and look at them because they are beautiful and, in my area, rare. I own a pit mix rescue dog. She is my best friend and has been in my family for 9 years.  I owned another rescue for 10 years previously. She was a long hair lab mix and we had a great life together.
