Artist’s Thoughts: I wanted to highlight the unique personality and individuality of different dog breeds as well as the wonderful physical variety and diversity that exists. As a student of Art History, I sought to recreate a Salon style gallery display wall through individual trompe l’oeil frames that highlight each of the various compositions. Similarly, the multiple images allude to iconic art historical animal imagery specifically Imagery of dogs and are represented through stylistic and aesthetic conventions of the Victorian, Renaissance, Baroque, and Modern eras. The portraits in my composition are meant to celebrate and elevate the individual dogs all around the world that are all loved and reciprocate that love and affection unconditionally.

What a fun presentation! Gallery walls are so interesting, and this one puts me in mind of one of my bucket list goals – visiting the AKC Museum of the Dog in NYC, having visited in Missouri some years ago and enjoyed some of the gallery walls there!
