If you’re a serious “gearhead,” you might know of Jean Jennings, an automotive journalist for over thirty years, many of them with Car and Driver magazine, and an oddity in a field of male journalists. Jean learned to drive a Jeep in the Andes Mountains, would date anyone who let her drive his car, developed a “thing” for speed, and in time, became a test driver for Chrysler where she drove 400 miles a day on the Chrysler Test Track. Jennings has driven Ralph Lauren’s priceless 1938 Alfa 8C 9000 Mille Miglia, was invited to drive a 1916 Benz 18/45 open touring car by the Mercedes-Benz factory museum for a week-long 1993 Pan-Pacific Rally across New Zealand’s North Island, and is still gobsmacked that Dan Davis invited her to drive his entire collection of exceedingly rare Miller racing cars during the annual Miller Meet at the Milwaukee Mile.
Jean is hilarious, but she’s also a Chesapeake Bay Retriever person (maybe the two go hand in hand?) whose dog, “Bob” (he’s in the photograph) was shown at Westminster in 2014. Read about what Jeanne drove to Westminster here. She’s a fun, but informative source for anyone car shopping. You can follow her on her Facebook page here .
