Certain breeds have a language all their own, and if we’re discussing hounds they certainly have their own unique terminology. A “flier” is a fast, hard running hound of exceptional ability, while a “Walkie-Talkie” is a hound that is pretty darn slow, but barks a lot. “Jump Hound” or “Jump Dog” is a hound with an unusually strong ability to find and jump rabbits, but a “Tail Hound” is the dog at the rear of the pack. Our personal favorite? Yoick. It’s an old hunting cry.
