Artist’s Thoughts:  My thinking process behind this artwork, is to use my natural talent to make this drawing as realistic as it can be portrayed. I want people to look at it and think its a black and white photo, but in reality it is a graphite drawing. My artistic process includes sometimes photoshopping (used for Frenchie Friends) because not all dogs were pictured together. If I do not need to photoshop the photo, I go straight into drawing from an image.

My goal as an emerging artist has always been to make people smile. I have always loved animals, and appreciate the joy that they bring to others. Dogs have always played an important role in my life, and I know that they bring life and love to many other people. This is why I decided to begin my business of drawing people’s dogs. I have found that such a personal gift easily brings a smile to a dog owner’s face when they see their best friend captured in such a personal way. The three dogs that are shown in my entry piece stole my heart three years ago when I was hired as their dog sitter. Fred, Milo, and Malibu were the happiest dogs and brought a lively energy with them wherever they go. They touched my life and the lives of many others, so I wanted to capture their energy in a drawing for their owners. Sadly, Fred, the one on the left, passed away in 2020 due to illness. This piece is to commemorate the life of Fred and to cherish the lives Milo and Malibu.
