“Lab”

Because no sacrifice is too great, look what we did for you, and in time for the holidays!

Some fine winemakers have incorporated dogs into the names of their wines or on their labels, and a good many of them are purebred dogs. One of our favorites is an imported medium bodied, red blend named, “Lab” produced by the venerable Casa Santos Lima wine estate outside of Lisbon.  “Lab” is a blend of mostly Portuguese grape varietals: Castelao, Tinta Roriz,Touriga Nacional and Syrah. Be forewarned that we aren’t connoisseurs and proper reviews will be found on-line (Robert Parker gave it 82 Points in The Wine Advocate), but we would describe “Lab” as an aromatic wine having lots of dark cherry and plum flavor with a touch of spice on the nose. The Touriga Nacional, a rather tannic grape, may leave your mouth feeling “warm,” but overall, it has a nice finish. “Lab” is under $15 and can be found in most liquor stores.
