Labrador Retriever: Hitler Foe

In 1946, a stray Labrador Retriever was recruited to fight against Hitler. Named, “Rex,” the Lab helped detect so many mines in the Reichswald Forest that he was hailed by Lt Peter Norbury, his platoon commander, as the bravest dog he’d ever seen and added, that [Rex had been] “saving casualties that would most certainly have occurred but for his devotion to duty.”
