Labrador Retrievers: Magicians of the Dog World

Tarot cards started out as a 15th century game, but sometime in the late 18th century, they began to be used for divination in the form of tarotology and cartomancy. Some practitioners of the occult view the cards as so much “hooey,” while some tarotologists (people who read Tarot cards) use them as guides. We’re not sure if our leg is being pulled by the people who feel that many dog breeds have personalities very similar to the tarot cards.  One site writes, “Our brain has a much stronger chance of remembering something if it can reference it to something else. It’s like hanging up a coat. It is much easier if you have a hook to hang it on. The dog breeds are like hooks making learning the Major Arcana cards meanings easier” ( Major Arcana cards are the trumps cards).

Okay. We’re game.

According to a source, the hard working Labrador Retriever is super-smart, is a good communicator, and has a deep well of natural talents. The breed isn’t just known for its talents, but the use of those talents, and that’s key in the “Magician” tarot card. They have all the skills needed to do whatever is asked of them. To that end, Labs are excellent sniffer dogs, superb guide dogs, and excel as SAR (search and rescue) dogs as well as therapy dogs.  They are the Magicians of the dog world.

And there you have it.
