Large Hairy Beasts, and the Dogs are Great, too

This is a “loaded” post (a pun you’ll understand when you’re done reading) that was inspired by the Irish Wolfhound in the thumbnail image

Take a moment to enjoy the whole photograph from which the detail comes:

Irish Wolfhound

These good looking hairy beasts are posing with the hard-rocking, metallic and traditional pipe band known as Saor Patrolpronounced Shore Patrol (and you thought we were describing the men, didn’t you).  The photo comes from the cover of their 2012 CD, Two Headed Dog.

Some of you will remember their music from the movie, Braveheart:

To see the fellows in action, take a look at the video below:

Perhaps you’ll want to enjoy an adult beverage while listening to their music, and while not everyone likes whiskey straight up, and few of us can get our hands on Irn Bru (pronounced “iron brew”),  you might have on hand the ingredients necessary to make an Irish Wolfhound. In Ireland, they like to say that this drink is, “named after one Irish legend and made with another.”irish wolfhound, cocktail

  • 50ml ginger beer
  • 25ml freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
  • Salt

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Great dogs, wonderful music, one of the best movies ever – will have to try the cocktail.
