Last Line of Defense Against the Boigairregularis

In inadvertent introduction of the Brown Tree Snake (known to snake purists as Boigairregularis) to Guam has resulted in terrible and unprecedented losses to the island’s fragile ecology and economy.

The last line of defense for preventing the reptile’s entrance into ports and cargo staging areas is inspections by trained snake- detector dogs. The breed of choice? Jack Russell Terriers. They’re fast. They’re intelligent. They’re energetic and they’re aggressive, and their size makes them easy to handle in cargo and confined spaces.
