As far as we know, Dachshunds are eligible to compete in six AKC events, more than any other recognized breed, and doing his part is “Wigeon,” a miniature smooth coated Dachshund. Wigeon started tracking just last year (a great occupation for a scent hound), and by now, he’s probably already got a title. Why are we so sure? Because Wigeon also has AKC titles in conformation, agility, obedience, rally, earth dog, coursing, barn hunt and trick dog. Oh, he also has his CGC, CGCA and CGCU. Not content with all that, Wigeon started participating in Dachshund field trials last spring, as well. We fully expect to hear very soon that Wigeon taken up competitive ball room dancing. Just saying.
If your dog has proved that s/he’s not just another pretty face by having excelled in both conformation and other disciplines, we want to hear about it. Send your over-achiever’s “resume” and photograph to us here. To see the other “pretty faces,” do a site search on, “Not Just Another Pretty Face.”
