Nova Scotia’s Provincial Dog

The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever is the smallest of all retrievers, an intelligent dog with an epic scream that can toll, lure, entice and, yes, retrieve. It’s been a “native child” of Nova Scotia for over one hundred years, but wasn’t acknowledged as an official breed by the Canadian Kennel Club until 1945. Fifty years later, the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever would be declared Nova Scotia’s Provincial Dog by an Act of the House of Assembly.
