These fine looking slippers bring new meaning to the complaint that one’s “dogs are barking.” This old expression associated with the South was used to refer to sore feet, and was probably used by people who never imaged that the slippers they put on to make their feet feel better could be made of dogs (or more specifically, their hair). These slippers are made of Samoyed hair, an extremely warm fibre reportedly up to 80% warmer than lambs wool. The Samoyedic people used the dog hair (called Chiengora)to make their clothes, passing what we think is the best “warmth test” of all.
These slippers are available at the Etsy shop, WoolyDog802, the hair “donated” by a Samoyed named, “Ms. Maizee.”
