“Striking,” New Mexico State’s Border Collie

He’s an Agility Champion, does Rally Obedience, and is a wilderness search dog for the State of New Mexico. On game days at Aggie Memorial Stadium,  he has a different kind of gig. Check it out below:

His name is “Striking,” and he’s New Mexico State University’s tee-retrieving Wonder Dog. “I got Striking when I was at a summer camp to learn agility training,” said his owner and trainer, Steve Stochaj, who’s also is a professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the school. Kicking tee-retrieval is just a hobby for Striking, however. The Border Collie’s day job is as a search and rescue dog for Mesilla Valley Search and Rescue where he does air scenting and human remains detection.

Border Collies are so versatile. Given the chance, we bet Striking could have returned that kickoff for a touchdown and retrieved the tee. Just saying.
