The AKC Government Relations Department’s “Oh, to Be a Dog!” Photo Challenge

The joy of living in the moment without the complications of human life often makes us think, “Oh, to be a dog!”  Dogs are masters of mindfulness. They don’t dwell on the past or worry about the future; they experience the world through a rich tapestry of scents and sounds way beyond human capabilities, and love without reservation. What a profound way to experience life.

How lucky we are to have the love of a dog, and helping protect that relationship is the AKC Government Relations Department. Few entities do as much as the AKC GR does to protect the rights of all dog owners, promote responsible dog ownership, and work to ensure that “dog laws” are reasonable and non-discriminatory. We urge you to visit the AKC GR’s website, see what it does, and support it because ultimately, it supports all of us. It is our honor to welcome their return as a photo contest sponsor

The challenge: A dog’s best life — what does that look like? Illustrate to our judges a scene that makes them sigh and think, “Oh, to be a dog.”

The prize: The AKC’s New Complete Dog Book, 800 stunning color photographs and information about 200+ breeds, an absolute must for any dog lover’s library;
