The Berner’s Beloved Chest Marking

The white marking we so love on the chest of Bernese Mountain Dogs typically forms an upside-down cross. It’s called an “inverted cross,” and you can read more about its relationship with the iconic Swiss flag here. Owners tell us it’s a favorite  place to scratch. True?

  1. Quite true, the snowy white chests are a favorite place to pet, and I’ve heard several judges say they like the white blaze on the Berners because that shows them just where to pet. ?

  2. We have a Lhasa APSO/ Poo, so cute and he has a perfect marking of a cross in his chest
