The Boston Terrier’s Haggerty Spot

A circle of dark hair on top of the Boston Terrier’s head (smack dab in the middle) is known as a “Haggerty Spot,” Haggerty star, or Haggerty dot, depending upon who you ask. Some breed fans also call it the “Kiss of God.” The mark is a genetic throwback associated with one of the oldest founding lines of Boston Terriers back in the early 1900’s as many of the Haggerty dogs were born with the spot.

  1. I want to find out if my Boston Terrier named Champion ( Champ ) if he has this spot, or the spot on in the middle of his head is the Hagerty dot.
Can I send a picture in to be evaluated?

    • While we’re not experts on the spots or even the breed, it’s a dark spot in the middle of the head and your dog’s spot sure looks like one to us!
