The China Eye

If you have a dog who has one eye that’s clear blue, but flecked with a white or lighter blue, you have a dog that has a China Eye, (sometimes called a Wall eye). Technically called, “heterochromia” (a difference in coloration), it’s a result of unequal distribution of melanin in a particular localized area such as the eye. Too much pigment (hyperpigmentation) or too little pigment (hypopigmentation) can be one cause, as can be trauma or infection, but most of the time, it’s inherited.
