When L.L. Bean posted the picture at the left on its Facebook page, purebred dog enthusiasts noticed! The following text appeared with the photograph:

It’s not every day a Bergamasco shows up on the page of an iconic retail, e-commerce, and mail-order company, and we wanted to learn more. We were able to find the owner and learned that this particular dog is three year old “Aesop,” owned by the photographer, Vanessa Lassin. Vanessa writes, “The Bergamascos are a big part of my life. My Mother-in-law, Donna DeFalcis, brought the first Bergamasco to North America from Italy in 1995, and is a breeder…We also have another Bergamasco Rhea who is Aesop’s mother, and she is 8 years old. They are my best models!”
