The Largest Dog Cake in the World: What Breed?

We recently read that Jacqui Griffin will be attempting to bake the biggest dog cake in the world in a bid to break the Guinness World Record. The dog-friendly cake will weigh almost 80kgs which will exceed the current record. We thought you’d like to see the cake that is the current record holder.

Guinness World Record,Pembroke Welsh Corgi,Cake

It was a cake created by cake designer, Michelle Wibowo, in honor of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding in 2011. The giant Pembroke Welsh Corgi cake was four feet high and weighed 150 pounds, or 68.45kg. It contained 120 eggs, 20 kg of dry dog food (liver, chicken and beef), 30 kg of wholemeal flour, and 25 cloves of garlic and fish oil.  It took Wibowo 111 hours over a period of three weeks to make, the intricate details of the Corgi’s fur taking the longest to do –  16 consecutive hours to be exact. The cake was unveiled on April 15, in London, close to Tower Bridge, where commuters stopped and stared at the largest Corgi they’d ever seen. Three real Corgis got to sample the delicious artwork before pieces were handed out to other dogs on the premises (does that seem a tad cannibalistic?)

When completed, Jacqui Griffin’s cake will be brought and distributed free to dogs in Petmania’s flagship store in Kilkenny, UK. We’ll be sure to report back if the record is successfully challenged.
