It’s always a good time to hear the song in the video below.
You may already know this tune from a video that went viral after Norfolk, Virginia police officers were challenged by Texas’ Corinth Police Department to participate in the Cop Lip Sync Challenge. It’s hard to say how the challenge got started, but some think it started when Bexar County Sheriff’s Department posted a video of Sheriff’s Deputy, Alexander Mena, mouthing the words to “Fuiste Mala” by the Kumbia Kings. Check it out:
It turned into a public-relations goldmine. Soon, other precincts around Texas joined in, putting their own spin on the songs to which they lip synched. Many think that the challenge as met by that Norfolk police department is the best of the lot. See for yourself:
The video, shot in one take during a lunchtime, garnered 50 million views and more than 1 million shares. As good as it is, it helps that the men and women in blue picked a terrific tune, and that brings us back to Bruno Mars who, with Mark Ronson, wrote “Uptown Funk,” a tune that spent 14 consecutive weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US, and is the fifth-most viewed YouTube video by views – 3.22 billion to be exact.
What does someone as successful as Bruno Mars have as a canine companion? A Rottweiler, of course. “Geronimo” entered Mars’ life as a puppy back in 2012. “That was my dream, man. I was, ‘Man, I want a dog. I need a dog. A big one,” Mars said in an interview.
We can’t conclude a post of the police lip synching challenge without mentioning that K9s got into the act, too:
And in this one, K9 “Quelle” sings along:
