Artist’s Thoughts: I have been involved in Purebred Dogs all my life. I grew up breeding and showing Basset Hounds. My entire family, to this day, are still all involved the sport in one form or another. I have taken my knowledge, learned through the years, and have applied it to my work doing Illustrated Breed Standards as well as creating that emotional bond between owner and canine in my portraiture.”
Painting Details: I have always loved the English Foxhounds. To me, they have always exemplified the “”working dog””.
An English Foxhound, who won the Hound Group at the 1984 Westminster Kennel Club was my first “”goosebump”” dog. Still to this day, the hair on my arms stand up just thinking of him. What made him so special was the fact he actually was a working dog, he not only competed in conformation but also he was a true pack dog working in a pack in Virginia.
The incredible bond that we have with these creatures. They give so much of themselves, love and adoration, and they are At Peace with just a rub behind the ear! #NPDDArt2017
