Artist’s Thoughts:  I am currently working on a series of painting, prints and drawings titled The year of the dog. It takes its name from the Chinese horoscope, being 2018 the one that represents the symbolic figure of the dog. The human being has attributed certain values such as companionship, strength, loyalty and unconditional love to this animal, characteristics that have transited to other cultural, historical, literary and artistic manifestations for centuries. The dog has a privileged place in art history that has taken many forms, belonging to different styles and genres. In my work I create dynamic compositions using the superposition of shapes, discontinuous color palettes, multiple graphic and pictorial solutions to make a sensation of constant movement and transformation and center on the dog’s natural personality and behavior. The colorful or blank backgrounds allude to the actions performed in the scenes, from which figures with a playful and impulsive sense emerge, covering a broad spectrum of visual resources.
