This Baby’s Breed Is…..

When you first saw this photograph, did you guess that this puppy is an Australian Cattle Dog?

Australian Cattle Dog,color, blue heelers, red heelers, Queensland heelers, Australian heelers

This breed’s accepted colors with the AKC are blue (blue, blue-mottled or blue speckled with or without other markings that may be are black, blue or tan) and red speckle, but whatever color they are, and whatever face and/or body patches they will have as adults, Australian Cattle Dogs are born white. As ACD pups mature, their blue or red coloring emerges gradually around 8 to 12 weeks of age.

  1. I did not know they were born white, have my blue healer for 12 years
Now and have different type of breeds for 60 years and nothing
Come close for being so smart, I hope with God’s blessing she
Will be around for a long time.

    • Isn’t that interesting about the puppy colors, Don? We hope your girl sticks around for a long time, too. These dogs of ours become such important parts of our lives….
