A State Dog (and State CATS?)

Not surprisingly, the Chesapeake Bay Retriever is Maryland’s state dog. It happened in 1964 with Chapter 156, Acts of 1964; Code General Provisions Article, sec. 7-304 (for anyone who is wondering). Not long after, the Chessie became the official mascot of the University of Maryland/Baltimore County, as well (“True Grit, in 1966). Did you know, however, that Maryland is one of only three states with an official cat? Can you guess the other states, as well as what Maryland’s state cat is? (answer below image credit)

Maine’s state cat is the Maine Coon Cat, Maryland’s state cat is the Calico, and the Tabby is claimed by Massachusetts as their state cat.
